North Wales Bluegrass Festival
Conwy Wales, GB
22nd Annual Event - All Day
We return to one of our very favorite events of 2009! The people of Wales are among the friendliest we've ever met and boy do they love roots music. Though this is listed as a bluegrass festival, and you will hear lots of fine bluegrass for certain, there are a variety of roots styles represented at this lovely festival! And Conwy is full of history (well, that pretty much goes for all of the UK!), a castle, city wall, and a harbor where the water sparkles and seagulls will steal the chips right out of your hand if you're not careful!
Does Billy look nervous in this photo? Maybe it's because we're up on the city wall . . .

Rumor is that we will be teaching Duet Harmony Singing and Appalachian Traditions. Billy will be our point person on Duet Harmony Singing and is hard at work on our Jewell Ridge Coal Songbook which should make a great teaching tool. And I'll be taking the helm on Appalachian Traditions where we'll learn to sing Appalachian Ballads through the oral teaching tradition and write new ones too. Billy and I will do a little talking and showing about banjo as an accompaniment instrument to singing as well. And there may even be a quilting lesson in there. We've also been told that we'll be talking and showing a bit about Music of the Coalfields, so all in all it sounds like a grand time! We hope you'll register and spend the week with us!
Oh Canada!
